About 2.5 tons of depleted uranium in BiH

The Chairman of the BiH parliamentary commission for establishing the level of the radiation from depleted uranium, Jelina Djurkovic, says that the commission has already prepared the a new report, which it will forward for the parliamentary procedure soon. According to the report, there are approximately 2.5 tons of depleted uranium in projectiles scattered all over BiH, which is contaminating underground waters. She also said that all those projectiles had to be removed from the ground as soon as possible, and that the highest concentration of depleted uranium was in the areas of Sarajevo, Kalinovik, Hadzici, Jahorina Creek and Han Pijesak, which were the main targets during the NATO air strikes in BiH in 1995. She added that the increased level of depleted uranium was also detected at three demolition sites used by SFOR.
